Siri Cardigan Class

Take your sweater knitting skills to the next level by creating the beautiful Siri Cardigan, an elegant top-down cardigan filled with techniques that will build your confidence as a garment knitter.

In this class, you'll learn how to construct a seamless cardigan from the top down, beginning with the neckline and yoke before separating the sleeves and body. Along the way, you'll gain experience with raglan shaping, short-row neckline construction, reading charts, and following multiple pattern elements at the same time.

While the beginning of the pattern introduces several techniques simultaneously—including neckline shaping, raglan increases, and establishing the stitch patterns—don't let that intimidate you. Your instructor will guide you through each step, helping you understand how the construction works. Once the yoke is established, the cardigan becomes a relaxing and enjoyable knit as the body and sleeves are completed separately, with the sleeves worked seamlessly in the round.

This class is ideal for adventurous knitters who are ready to expand their garment-making skills and gain confidence tackling more complex sweater patterns. By the end of the course, you'll not only have a stunning handmade cardigan but also the knowledge and techniques to confidently knit future top-down cardigans.

Skill Level: Adventurous Beginner/Intermediate Knitter

Prerequisites: Students should be comfortable casting on, binding off, knitting, purling. 

Throughout this class, you’ll gain hands-on experience with:

• Measuring your body and how to apply it to the pattern
• Guage how to get it and how to apply it to your sweater
• Knitting in the round
• Basic increases and decreases
• How to read a chart 
• How to work cables
• Picking up stitches
• Working ribbing
• seaming and finishing techniques
• blocking 

Class Details:
This class meets every other week on the same day and time for 2 hours per session. The full course runs over 12 weeks, with a total of 6 classes.

Supplies (not included in price)

• Worsted weight Yarn (#4) - Store recommendations Firefly by Juniper Moon, Berrocco Vintage, or Rowan Cashsoft Merino Worsted
• 14 and 5,5 mm [US6 and US9] circular needles (40 and 80 cm [16 and 32 “]). 
  4 mm [US6] double-pointed needles. 
  If you use the magic loop method, you do not need double-pointed needles.

To ensure we can fairly support our instructors and class scheduling, cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to the start of the first class are non-refundable. If you need to cancel within this timeframe, we will make every effort to fill your reserved seat. If we are successful in filling your spot, a refund may be issued at the discretion of Yarn Therapy. If we are unable to fill the vacancy, no refund will be provided.
