Want to make sweaters, cardigans, hats, gloves, or baby garments that actually fit the way you want them to? Frustrated because your finished projects don’t look or fit like the pattern sample? This class is for you!

Learn how to take accurate body measurements and, more importantly, how to use those measurements when choosing your pattern size and making adjustments.

In this hands-on class, we’ll cover:

• How to take accurate measurements for the garments you want to make
• How to read and use a pattern’s finished measurements to choose the right size
• Understanding ease and how it affects the fit of your finished garment
• Gauge basics: what gauge is, why it matters, and how to create an accurate gauge swatch
• How your gauge affects the finished measurements of your project
• How to apply your measurements and gauge to a pattern
• Where and how you can make adjustments for a more customized fit
• Common reasons a project may not fit as expected and how to avoid those frustrations

Whether you're making your first sweater or you've been knitting and crocheting for years, understanding measurements, gauge, and pattern math will give you the confidence to make garments that fit you — not just the model in the pattern photo.

Whether you're picking up needles or a hook for the very first time or expanding your skills, our instructors are committed to helping you succeed. To ensure the best experience for everyone, please review our class policies before registering.

Important: If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled class sessions, a private make-up lesson may be arranged based on instructor availability. Private lesson fees apply and rates vary by instructor.

Cancellation Policy: We are excited to have you join us and appreciate your decision to learn with Yarn Therapy! Our instructors dedicate significant time to planning, preparing materials, and creating a meaningful learning experience for every class.

To ensure we can fairly support our instructors and class scheduling, cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to the start of the first class are non-refundable. If you need to cancel within this timeframe, we will make every effort to fill your reserved seat. If we are successful in filling your spot, a refund may be issued at the discretion of Yarn Therapy. If we are unable to fill the vacancy, no refund will be provided.
